Ryan Clark Fined

During the 2010-2011 season, many football fans believed that Roger Goodell had been targeting the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison for illegal hits to players.  Now this season Ryan Clark has been fined two weeks in a row for hits that were said to be illegal, but from most perceptions he is just playing physical.  Clark was fined 40k for hist "illegal" hit to Baltimore Ravens wide receiver in the forth quarter of the game.  In the same game, Ray Lewis hit Hines Ward helmet to helmet which is a huge issue in the NFL today.  He only received a fine of 20k.  The ironic thing about the hit was it knock Hines Ward out of the game.

I find it hard to believe that Ryan Clark's hit was worse than that of Ray Lewis.  Again, Roger Goodell has some issues to work out with his fines system.

Hard Fought Steeler's Victory

The Pittsburgh Steelers played host to The New England Patriots Sunday at Heinz Field.  The Patriots have owned the Steelers over the years, holding a 7-2 record overall against the Steelers since 2002.  The Steelers had not beaten the Patriots since 2004 so Sunday seemed like the day the streak should end.

The Steelers started out the game dominating the first quarter.  They chewed up 13 of the 15 minutes and ran 25 plays scoring 10 points.  Big Ben's favorite receiver in the quarter was Heath Miller.  He threw to Heath 7 times completing 6 passes, 3 of which for first downs.  On the other side of the ball, the Steelers defense held the Patriots to one 3 and out drive during the first quarter, which happened to be the only time the Patriots had the ball in the first quarter.  Throughout the game however play start to pick up for the Patriots as they came within six points of the Steelers in the final minutes of the game.  This made the game a big time nail bitter for the Steelers fans.  The game however ended well for the Steelers as they got their first win against the Patriots since 2004.  The final score of the game was 25-17.  The Steelers however cannot celebrate this win too long as they play the division rival Baltimore Ravens in hopes to get back at them for the embarassing butt whopping they took in the first week of the season.  It should be a spectacular game to watch.

Here We Go STEELERS!

Are they really a "Dream Team"

The superstar filled Philadelphia Eagles took the field Sunday night when they took on NFC powerhouse Atlanta Falcons.  This marked Micheal Vick's return to Atlanta since his prior dog fighting incident.  The action went back and forth throughout the game, but in the end the Atlanta Falcons proved to be too much for the Philadelphia "Dream Team" Eagles.

The Eagles held a 31-21 lead over the Falcons throughout the 4th quarter.  The Falcons rallied with two unanswered touchdowns to take a 35-31 lead which held up to be the final score of the game.

With the Eagles choking at the end of the game, it makes the sport community whether they are really a "Dream Team" or just the typical egotistical group of athletes.

Pirates Plumit

Yes Pirate fans. That is correct.  The Pittsburgh Pirates have suffered there 82nd loss of the season for the 19th season in a row.

After what started out to be a promiseing season the Pirates started falling in the standings all the way from 1st.  It is truely unfortunate to see a team that played so well for so long plumit like they did.  The Pirates put baseball back on the map this year, regardless of the latest turn of events.  Next season I believe the Pittsburgh Pirates will flourish again.

Maryland v. Miami

Last night the Maryland Teripans played the Miami Hurricans in the first ACC conference game of the year.  Dispite the back and forth play throughout the game, the Maryland Teripans seemed to be just too much for the Miami Hurricans who have faced many offseason distractions.  One of which being the possible elimination of the whole Miami sports programs.  Overall it looks like it is going to be a rough road for the Hurricanes this season, but what a great way to start off the ACC football season.
